 On a very interesting and emotional encounter in the Gabor Ocskay Jr. Arena in Szekesfehervar, HK Acroni Jesenice lost by the smallest possible margin against home force SAPA Fehervar AV 19.

In the third minute Benk takes possession behind the Jesenice net, passes to the arriving Kóger but Grumet-Morris makes a good save. Three minutes later Ladányi takes it into the offensive zone, then passes from the corner to Sofron who tricks himself closer to the net but finally his shot misses the net.
Jesenice’s first threatening shot comes in the seventh minute when Sabolic takes the shot but Hetényi catches the puck with his glove. Shortly afterwards the home team’s young unit builds a good attack, but Benk’s shot slides by the net. In the next minute once again the home team threatens with a counterattack, Fekete passes from the corner to Horváth who shoots the puck above the net. Seconds later Makrov takes it into the offensive zone, then takes the shot but Hetényi pushes the puck out with his shoulder.
In the 9th minute Jesenice gets a powerplay opportunity but Martz steals the puck, takes it all the way to the net but shoots it into Grumet-Morris. In the 10th minute Dück takes a distant shot but other than this shot, Jesenice has no really big scoring chances in the powerplay.
In the 11th minute, during a Sapa Fehérvár AV19 powerplay, Mihály and Palkovics take the puck into the offensive zone by passing from on to the other, finally Palkovics takes the shot. The puck flies above the goalie but eventually it lands by the net. Then Mihály tricks himself all the way to the Jesenice net but he gets to close to the net and cannot take the shot.
In the 14th minute Jesenice builds a quick counterattack but Hetényi is able to kick out the puck after a shot by Robins. Half a minute after Jesenice becomes complete, the home team takes the lead. Sofron steps away with the puck, then passes to Kovács who takes it all the way to the Jesenice net and after his backhand shot, the puck lands behind Grumet-Morris giving Sapa Fehérvár AV19 a 1-0 lead.
Barely one minute later the home team’s lead is increased to two goals. In another counterattack Fekete takes it into the offensive zone, leaves the puck for the arriving Palkovics who takes the shot. The puck slows down but still finds its way into the net between the legs of Grumet-Morris and Sapa Fehérvár AV19 leads 2-0.
In the 16th minute Jankó Vas makes a great diagonal pass to Kovács who could take it all the way to the Jesenice net but shoots it instead but the puck flies above the net. Shortly afterwards Jesenice also scores its first goal of the game. The puck is stolen from Sofron, and Jesenice builds the counterattack from that. The puck finally lands behind Hetényi’s net, several players try to take possession and somehow Andrej Hebar manages to push it past the young Hungarian goalie.
In the 17th minute, during another Jesenice powerplay, a big shot is taken from the blue line, Hetényi cannot make the save at the first attempt but slides backwards and eventually the puck lands under him and the home team leads 2-1 after the first twenty minutes.
In the first minute of the second period Elik takes the puck into the offensive zone, makes a good pass but Hetényi eventually makes the save. Two minutes later the home team loses the puck in its defensive zone, Jeglic takes a dangerous shot but Hetényi pushes the puck out with his shoulder.
In the fifth minute the home team is in powerplay and scores its third goal of the game. Palkovics takes the puck all the way to the Jesenice net, but his attempt is blocked. Mihály arrives on the rebound and Grumet-Morris is already lying on the ice and the winger easily lifts the puck above him into the net.
In the sixth minute Pretnar steals the puck in front of Hetényi’s net , he tries to trick the goalie but Hetényi pushes his leg out and manages a bravura save. One minute later Kóger takes a promising shot from the wing but Grumet-Morris makes the save.
In the 9th minute the home team is playing five on three, the puck is passed around well but there are no really good shots or any seriously big scoring chances. When one of Jesenice’s penalized players returns, the Slovenians threaten with a counterattack, finally Dück’s shot flies above the net. Then Ladányi builds an attack, makes a diagonal pass to Márton Vas but the centerman cannot take a good shot with the bouncing puck.
In the 13th minute Sapa Fehérvár AV19 increases its lead to three goals. Kóger keeps the puck in the corner of the offensive zone, then passes diagonally to Jankó Vas who is standing in front of the Jesenice net and lifts the puck into the net above Grumet-Morris.
Two minutes later Jesenice scores again decreasing its deficit to two goals. The home team cannot clear the corner of its defensive zone, the puck is passed to Elik who is standing in the center of the zone. Elik takes the shot and the puck lands in the net under Hetényi’s arm.
Then just over one minute later the visiting team manages to score again and modify the result to 4-3. Kovács loses the puck by the board, Jeglic takes the initial shot which is saved by Hetényi but Ticar arrives on the rebound and scores easily.
In the 18th minute Jesenice is close to equalizing in powerplay. After receiving a good diagonal pass, Golubovski takes a huge shot but Hetényi makes a fantastic save, keeping the home team’s single-goal lead for the second intermission.
The closing twenty minutes start with unpunctual play from both sides and no scoring chances. From the third minute the visiting team plays in powerplay but the only chance comes after an Elik shot which just barely misses the net.
In the sixth minute Palkovics misses a breakaway chance, then Jankó Vas shoots a semi-distant shot which also flies by the net. In the 8th minute following a face-off Fekete takes the shot but Grumet-Morris kicks the puck out. One minute later Jankó Vas steps away with the puck and is able to take the shot despite being closely followed by a defenseman. Grumet-Morris makes another save.
In the middle of the period Sapa Fehérvár AV19 also has a powerplay opportunity but it goes by without any major scoring chances, except for a promising Ackeström shot.
In the 14th minute after big confusion in front of the Jesenice net, Sapa Fehérvár AV19 scores again but the goal is annulled due to high sticking.
Two minutes later the puck is shot towards Hetényi’s net, Makrov arrives on the puck but Hetényi moves quickly between the posts and makes the save. Then the puck is behind the Hungarian team’s net, it is passed back to Elik but his shot is also pushed out by Hetényi.
In the 17th minute, in a powerplay Makrov tricks himself all the way to the home team’s net, then he takes the backhand shot but there isn’t enough strength in the shot. When Sapa Fehérvár AV19 returns to full strength, Kovacevic takes a promising shot but Hetényi is confident again.
With just one minute left in the game Fekete receives a great pass from Ladányi but after his shot, the puck hits the post. Jesenice played with dominance in the closing twenty minutes but due to its good defensive work, Sapa Fehérvár AV19 deservedly kept both points at home.
Jarmo Tolvanen, Sapa Fehérvár AV19 head coach: The first period was okay but I’m not satisfied with the second period. We made stupid mistakes and let our opponent come back into the game. Then in the third period we played smartly and managed to defend our lead.
Mike Posma, HK Acroni Jesenice head coach: In the first twenty minutes there wasn’t enough emotion in our game, we missed intensity. Then in the second period we turned it up a bit but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to collect the points.
