Despite a strong effort from Sapa Fehérvár AV19, Moser Medical Graz 99ers managed to take both points home on Friday night from the Gábor Ocskay Jr. Ice Hall in Székesfehérvár.
- We worked hard and did many good things during the game and the fans could see a really great game – summarized the conclusions Sapa Fehérvár AV19’s assistant coach, Lajos Énekes. – We managed to take the lead but then Graz turned the game in its favor and had the advantage at the end of the second period. In the third period we created more scoring chances and were able to equalize. This game was a battle of equal forces and finally the bit luckier team managed to take both points.
Lajos Énekes emphasized that once again the powerplay efficiency was his team’s weakest point.
- It is also part of the truth that the 99ers worked excellently in penalty-killing and this was completed by a fantastic performance from goalie Charpentier. We must congratulate Graz on their victory – said the assistant coach.
Sapa Fehérvár AV19 has another tough challenge ahead of them on Sunday night when they will face EC VSV in Villach.
- We are very close to VSV in the standings but in order to catch them in terms of points collected, we must play as well as we did against Medvescak and the 99ers in our last two games. It will be very important how we start the game. All throughout the season on the road we weren’t able to start the games the way we planned, in terms of concentration and team effort. Quite possibly this will be the last time we travel to Villach this season, and now we will have the opportunity to prove that it is not a matter of luck that we are so close to Villach in the standings – said Lajos Énekes.
The Hungarian champions will try to improve their powerplay efficiency for Sunday’s game while maintaning a good penalty-killing.
- Our powerplay must become even more punctual and faster. We must try to work more in front of the net in shooting situations. Our penalty-killing worked well against the 99ers, we must try to play it just as well in Villach – added the assistant coach.
Sapa Fehérvár AV19’s line-up is likely to stay unchanged, the team’s only missing player is still defenseman Rastislav Ondrejcik.
